Detour on Life’s Journey

Updated: Oct 11, 2021

I always loved John Lennon’s quote “Life happens while we are making plans”. A year ago, I was enjoying my life moving from the end of summer in to my favorite season of fall, and then life threw me a rather large surprise. After a routine check up I found out that I had cancer. Yes the big C word was spoken out loud and my life came to a screeching halt. In looking back, it is amazing to me how we are this beautiful and amazing system that allows us the ability to surround ourselves in this blanket of denial, for the reality of the the situation is just too much for us to take in all at once. But I had a choice and along with that early stage of denial, all my years of training also kicked in and I knew from the start that how I chose to show up in walking through this disease was the one thing I did have control over.

So I decided to look at it as a year of going to C School and I would learn everything I possibly could. And that I did! I read and listened and learned, and asked questions, and more questions, and then I chose the courses I wanted to take with the teachers I wanted to teach me and did not look back.

Today I am in great health and moving on to the next chapter in my life. I have learned a lot, made mistakes, danced when needed, laughed and cried and most of all walked in gratitude.

So although it was a detour on my life’s journey, I find myself stronger and more in love with life then ever and very grateful for friend, family and colleagues who walked it with me.

I am excited to get back on the path that awaits…. hope to see you there.
