Follow the Yellow Brick Road

I love the Wizard of OZ!

What is it about this story that has captured so many for 75 years? I have to admit that my favorite character was the Cowardly Lion who wanted Courage, and then there is the Scarecrow who wanted a brain and the Tin Man wanted a heart. And of course Dorothy, she just wanted to go home. Simply they wanted what they thought or believed they did not have and yet they had them all along. “if you are looking for your hearts desire, you don’t have to look any further than your own back yard.”

The lessons we learn along the way are meant to teach us how to move through a world that many times does not make sense. When we are growing up, if we are lucky enough to have adults in our lives that validate our path, empower us to self adjust and schools supportive enough to see our gifts and cultivate them, we have a much greater chance to succeed. However if we do not, then we begin to doubt ourselves, look to others for approval until the proverbial house falls on us and we find ourselves in munchkin land.

Coaching allows you to have those conversations that are waiting to be had. It allows you to look at old patterns and habits that no longer serve you.

It allows you to think and feel in new ways and the courage to take the steps necessary to change; just like the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion.

So if you find yourself on your own yellow brick road, I encourage you to remember what the wise Witch Glenda said to Dorothy,” You always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it yourself.”
